HOW TO GET INTO BMX RACING
Here i am going to write a short little something on how to get started racing BMX!
BMX (Bicycle moto cross) started in the early 70s from few kids trying to copy the acts of all the top motorcross riders. BMX has progress so much since then!
There are two leagues of BMX racing ABA and NBL. They both have nice websites were you are able to search for your closest BMX track to you. Between both leagues there is a track in every state in the USA.
After you find your local track you can give the track director a call with any questions or even call us here at the shop. Find out there schedule and go to a race!
After you find there schedule out i would show up a little bit early to meet the track director and more local riders. The track director will be able to show you around give you a over veiw of the track, show you the moto boards, get you all signed up and ready to race.
Most local tracks offer a discount first race, or free first race depending on the local track!
You are able to race any bike you like as long as it is mechanically safe working condition. All pegs, reflectors, kickstands, and all other protruding dangerous equipment attached must be removed before getting onto the track. You will also get a number plate. This will be put onto your handlebars so you are scored right in your race.
After that is done, take a few practice laps, get use to the gate, turns, jumps, rollers and everything. Don’t get worn out before your race though. Again if you have any questions don’t be afraid to grab anyone and ask.
Before the race start they will post motos. Motos are the heats you will race. You will race other kids your same age.
Again don’t be afraid to ask anyone any questions what so ever!
Once the race is over you will get your trophy! and then come back again the race to do it all over again!
